Google Chrome & Mozilla Firefox are among the most popular browsers in the world. They have both been around for over a decade. While in the past both browsers were advertised as being privacy focused and at times they literally attacked competing browsers by pointing out how competing browsers sell your data and track you. That being said, it has been a long time since either company has prioritized privacy. For years now both have started ramping up data mining, tracking and sponsored ads that are delivered directly too the user via the browser. This is why neither browser should be used today. Every user out there should uninstall these browsers and use either Brave Browser if you prefer chromium (Google Chrome) or LibreWolf if you prefer Firefox. These browsers are both based on Chrome & Firefox but remove the telemetry, sponsored advertisements, tracking and blocking of important extensions or addons that block malicious advertisement across the internet. What makes them viable solutions to this problem is the average user wouldn't be able to tell the difference between Brave and Chrome or Librewolf and Firefox because these browsers are forks and use the same source code they feel and look the same except for all the BS garbage that shouldn't be part of the browser in the first place.

Google has made it their mission to prevent the use and to completely block ad blockers in Chrome, they offer almost no privacy for users, especially those who have chosen to login to their google account in the browser. It has become one of the largest data harvesting operation outside of Facebook. Google believes this is okay, because their entire business strategy relies on advertising.

Firefox has recently changed their privacy policy and are on the same track. The telemetry and data mining, advertising through pocket are all things NO ONE BROWSING THE INTERNET NEEDS. As of last week they changed their privacy policy and completely removed the part where they said they DO NOT SELL YOUR DATA. They do sell your data and they are harvesting and have been harvesting that data for many years.

The fact that these 2 browsers are attempting to strip the users of their privacy, their freedom to install and use add-ons or extensions they want to use shows that these companies are for maximum profit and users of their browser have become the product to make that profit.

If nothing else, understanding that the vast majority of scams, malware, malicious links, phishing scams among other harmful places on the internet are spread using ad services. This is why blocking advertisement is so important today, because the companies earning billions off of ads do not have the resources to validate and make sure ads are not malicious. Lets be honest even if they did they wouldn't because it would harm their wallet.
