Hi all!

I trying to learn about defuse, nand-aids and the recovery process. I have decent soldering skills and already installed a pico in the current console. I've also installed a nand-aid before and ran into some problems with the previous console. I was able to restore it with a nand-aid and some help.

I want to follow the guide again and start from the beginning.

I was told to bring logs.  ;D

@Infragno

When you dump the logs from the minute menu using "dump sys crash logs" from the backup and restore menu you should get log files numbered between 1-99 (each console will vary depending on how many logs it has written in its lifetime) and a meta.bin file. Can you zip the logs including the meta.bin file up and upload it? Without the meta.bin file we cannot tell which log is the newest.

You can use 7zip to zip the files.

Here you go. I was watching another video about the meta file and hex editor. Looks like no. 5 is the latest. However log 1 shows media errors. I did play around in the minute menu a little  :o

tzirf

Yes log 5 is the latest and you are correct log 1 shows mlc media errors indicating the eMMC is bad.
"00:01:23:400: FSA: ### MEDIA ERROR ###, dev:mlc01, err:-2228230, cmd:11, path:(null)"

So this console you have needs a NAND-AID.

Nand-aid install succesful. However it seems I'm getting the exact same error as with my first console...

Is the SLC bad? Im able to restore SLC.RAW though. Only that trick doesnt fix this console...

tzirf

SLC looks fine from that log. Where is the log file from the "Test SLC and Restore SLC.RAW"? Were there bad blocks reported?

No, that works fine no errors.

I must be doing something wrong.

I can't figure this one out. Seems like the same type of error as the first console. I copied what happens to error.txt. I also printed MLC info (mlc_info.txt). What does the SDHC error mean?

Thanks in advance.

MLC Info wasn't available when I was repairing these consoles. Must have been added after the last one that came across my workbench.

That being said this error seems similar to the interrupt/timeout reset error I have seen on a couple Wii U consoles that needed a NAND-AID. This is an educated guess based on my experience and it may not be correct, I saw a similar error show up when there was a connection problem between the NAND-AID and SD Card. Both times this happened during a repair the SD Card slot was damaged during soldering when some of the plastic melted and moved the internal pins that should lineup with the contacts on the micro-SD Card.

I do have a Wii U console that hasn't been repaired yet that exhibited similar issues you are having. Unfortunately its in storage and I don't have access to it right now. I would be interested in running the MLC Info and seeing if the same "sdhc: ERROR Interrupt, status=0x8000" shows up.

SDIO may have more accurate information on this error message and could probably shed some light on it.

When you attempt to rebuild the MLC what is the LED doing on the front of the console?

The LED stays solid. It doesnt start blinking.

I have the front plastic off. I think it would be purple.

Purple would indicate a file associated with ISFShax is missing on the SD Card that plugs into the front of the console.
